Eric J. Schindler

Eric J. Schindler is a California trial and appellate attorney, and member of The Schindler Law Firm in Laguna Beach, California.  Eric represents individual and business policyholders in insurance coverage and insurance claims handling disputes on most lines of insurance.  Eric also represents individual and business clients in commercial litigation, construction defect litigation, professional liability, serious personal injury and wrongful death, medical malpractice, product liability matters, and consumer representative and class action litigation. Eric is licensed to practice law in all California and Louisiana state and federal courts.

Eric’s reported decisions include 3250 Wilshire Boulevard Partners, et al. v. W.R. Grace, et al., 990 F.2d 487 (9th Cir. 1993); and Brown v. Green, 8 Cal.4th 812 (1994)(California Supreme Court);  Anker v. Long, 2003 Cal. App. Unpub. LEXIS 5810; Ecology Works v. Essex Ins. Co. 2003 U.S.App. LEXIS 4862 (9th Cir.).

Eric occasionally recovers seven-figure verdicts and settlements for his clients, including a $6 million jury verdict in one of the first asbestos property damage commercial building cases tried in California (Bunker Hill Towers Condominium Association v. W.R. Grace, et al.); a $5.2 million binding insurance appraisal award for a BelAir gated-estate homeowner arising out of the Northridge earthquake (Case ID Confidential);

Eric has represented Lloyd’s and ILU insurers in New Orleans, Louisiana; taught as an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles; and regularly publishes and lectures for continuing legal education conferences in Southern California. 

Eric was formerly associated with Buchalter, Nemer, Fields and Younger in Los Angeles; and was of counsel to Shernoff & Scott in Newport Beach, California. 

Eric earned his B.A. with honors in philosophy from Louisiana State University in 1978; his EBD (“Everything But the Dissertation”) in Ancient Philosophy from the University of Texas Graduate School of Philosophy and Classics at Austin in 1982; and his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1985, where he achieved a first place, undefeated title in the national Giles Sutherland Rich Intellectual Property Moot Court Competition.
